Less Than 500,000 Google Nexus 4 Handsets Sold So Far

We could hear reports that Google Nexus 4 was sold out twice when it was launched and that sounds like a great result from this company but it seams that it is not that good at all. According to some estimation this device was
sold in less than 500 000 units since it was launched.

When Google Nexus 4 was offered through Google Play it cost either £239 or £269 and for a device that brought fantastic features like this it was quite a great deal. Since it was easily sold out many thought that it was because of a huge demand but it seams that it is not quite simple as that.

According to XDA they were able to determine where and when their device was built using the serial number. This also allowed them to conclude the total number of devices that was sold. As a result they brought a figure that is about 375 000 units. If this is the true than the sale of this smartphone is going much slower than anyone expected, especially Google. One of the reasons for slower sales might be the inventory problems and not because of the huge sales. This is not confirmed so we will have to wait and see how will it end.

At this moment we can only speculate and few options are to think about. Maybe LG is not able to deliver enough of these devices for Google or did Google order far less devices than the sale numbers are. Another possible reason for these problems is that Google is deliberately slowed down the sales for some reason.

Basically, something’s not right and it’s either Google or LG’s fault. Or, XDA could have it entirely wrong and the handset could have sold in the millions and Google and LG are just well and truly fresh out of supplies…
