Samsung Exynos 5 Octa, An A15 And A7 Hybrid SoC Announced

As one of the major players on the smartphone market, if not the biggest, Samsung always manages to bring some incredible features and great devices. To be possible to bring these improvements they need to develop new chipsets and processors and the next step is the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa chipset.

At the 2013 CES we were able to hear announcement regarding this chip and if all the claimed is the truth than we might be getting one quite capable chip. There will be a 8 cores that will distribute the work load so we will be getting better performances. This chip will use the combination of four powerful Cortex-A15 cores with four Cortex-A7. This way the first four will bring incredible performances while the other four will be there to do all the less demanding tasks so the battery is preserved.

We all know that the battery life with powerful flagship can be seriously jeopardized because of the high speed processors but in this case we have a large improvements. Since this chipset is based on ARM’s big.LITTLE technology we will always have the best performances but with a improved battery life.

At the presentation we could hear that this chipset will use about 70 percent less power compared to the Exynos 5 Dual that can be found in devices like Chromebook and Google Nexus 10 tablet device. Performances will be at the highest level and the early reports say that we might get about double 3D rendering power when we compare it with Exynos 4 Quad that is used for both Note II and Galaxy S III.

This certainly will be the best what Samsung has to offer for 2013 in the processor and chipset segment but we do not know when it will be delivered to the market nor in which devices it will debut. When we are getting this powerful chipsets it is quite normal to say that it will most likely be delivered in the next flagship of South Korean tech giant so new Galaxy S and Note devices will most likely receive these.
